Whispers of Comfort was founded in 2001 by Mr Charles Peter Norbury and Mrs Tina Norbury who have 32 adults and children being assisted to date with- wheelchairs, money for food, laundry and money to pay the workers who help them. In May 2014 we constituted into a Charity with Trustees and now registered in Zimbabwe and South Africa.
Who we are
We are a Charitable Trust and Non Profit Organisation that provides support to people with Learning Disabilities (Silent disabilities) their parents, guardians, caregivers and friends. We focus mainly on the Autistic Spectrum Disorder, Asperger’s Syndrome, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia and Dyscalculia
What we do
Provide and support the education of young people with Learning Disabilities
Encourage and promote equality and diversity
Campaign, Advocate and run programmes against discrimination on the grounds of any disability among children, youth and society at large
Provide necessary equipment, training and development of programmes tailored to meet the needs of our service users.
Set up a new technology suite(learning centre) that provides training and employment/social enterprise opportunities for people with learning disabilities
To promote knowledge and mutual understanding among different disabled groups
To identify and support mentorship by both Disabled and Ableist role models
To partner with individuals , schools, community based groups, local authorities, ministry of education and similar organisations to further the objectives of this Trust.
To train skilled volunteers from the United Kingdom to collaborate and share knowledge and expertise with existing structures in Africa
